About IDSO

The Interior Design Student Organization (IDSO) is an important aspect of student life in the interior design program at LSU. Through IDSO, students are able to participate in educational workshops, service projects, and professional networking and social events. The organization focuses on academic success, civic involvement, and student professional growth. IDSO provides students with connections to the professional world through partnerships with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Students are able to participate in functions sponsored by these associations to network with professionals in the design industry.

Leadership

In April of 2017, I was elected by fellow Interior Design students to represent the student body as Vice President of IDSO. Through this experience, I have better learned how to coordinate various events, use social media to positively promote IDSO activities, and learn collaborative, organizational, and leadership skills. During my time as Vice President, IDSO became recognized as an official LSU student organization and is focused on further growing the School of Interior Design through the student body and alumnae participation. My role included assisting the President in ways that would ensure the growth and progress of the organization, coordinating and organizing all community service events and opportunities, and assisting other offices in budgetary, secretarial, and fundraising.

Logo:

Created August 2017 as a collaborative effort between 2017-2018 officers

The concept behind the logo is the design process, with the letters representing each phase from schematic design to finished product. We wanted to create a logo that reflected the work, process, and identity of who we are as interior designers.

T-Shirt Design Competition:

September 2017 - In order to involve students, IDSO held a school-wide T-Shirt design competition. All students were encouraged to participate, with the winning participants receiving a free membership and shirt. Please note that the design shown below is not my design, but included to showcase the leadership skills involved in organizing the competition.
