About Me

I am a senior Interior Design student at Louisiana State University. I am on track to graduate with Latin honors in May of 2018 as a LEED Green Associate. I am the current recipient of the Chi Omega Nellie Lewis Springer Interior Design Scholarship and am a member of the following honor societies: Order of Omega, Rho Lambda Panhellenic, Phi Kappa Phi, and Alpha Lambda Delta. I look forward to pursing my career as a designer by playing an active role in all aspects of the design process as I continue to learn from skilled, licensed designers in a professional working environment.

LEED Green Associate

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building, community and home project types, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. Since July of 2016 I have been a LEED Green Associate, signifying my core competency in green building principles which has opened my eyes to the growing environmental concerns our world faces. Through involvement in this program, I have been inspired to use design in ways that address sustainability, reduce operation costs for clients, and boost employee productivity and retention. I plan to maintain my credentials and further my education by taking continuing education courses, participating in LEED projects, and attaining higher levels of LEED accreditation.

Interior Design Director Search

In the Spring 2017 semester, I was selected by the Dean of the Art and Design college to be the student representative on the panel to select the new School of Interior Design director. This experience helped mold be into a more effective communicator and leader in many ways. My primary responsibility was expressing the needs of my fellow students. I decided that the best way to involve students in this selection was by forming an interview panel of students that each director candidate met with. For these meetings, I prepared a list of student questions that the panel used as a guide to interview the candidate with. After the student interview, students were asked to record their observations and rate each candidate in various categories on a scale from 1 - 5. The scores for each candidate was averaged (overall opinion and in each category) in order to show average student favorites and concerns. A report was then put together for the Dean to give an accurate and detailed student opinion.

Interior Design Student Organization

Currently, I am serving as Vice President of the Interior Design Student Organization on campus for the 2017-2018 academic year. Please click on the logo below to learn more about my leadership involvement through IDSO.

Greek Life

Chi Omega is an intergenerational women’s organization forever committed to our founding purposes:

Friendship, Personal Integrity, Service to Others, Academic Excellence and Intellectual Pursuits, Community and Campus Involvement, & Personal and Career Development. Throughout my college career I have been an active participant in my sorority by being involved in leadership positions, participating in  community service and philanthropic events, and by exceeding our academic obligations while pursing personal and career development through organizations outside of my sorority. Chi Omega's LSU Chapter supports two annual philanthropy events, Dishes for Wishes, sponsoring the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Special Tees for Special Needs, which offers support to a fellow a sister and her family. Chi Omega women are also active participants in greek wide activities such Baton Rouge's chapter of Habitat for Humanity, also known as Greek Week. Being active in my sorority has allowed me to form lasting friendships, develop social and leadership skills, learn responsibility, treat others with dignity and respect, participate in philanthropic events,  and most importantly, has given me opportunities in which I been able to make a difference beyond my sorority and into my community. My positions included banner chair, t-shirt chair, social media manager, and a member of the Cardinal Cabinet. Through these various roles I learned how I could use my artistic strengths and organization skills to benefit our LSU Chapter.
